*The young man comes back up, and looking down on a sheet of paper, begins to talk*
Today, I want to talk about the way you have your characters act. So many of you don't really know what to do, and make your character do something that in real life, he/she couldn't do! Before I forget, let me tell you, feel free to ask questions anytime.
For example, I have seen RPers do this: *Bob cuts down a tree with his sword, and quickly moves on to another one*.
First off-the main problem: Even with a very sharp sword, one suited for that kind of work, and a weak tree, that's not a very realistic scene, now is it?
Bob can't cut down a tree in a hurry-axes work best, and even with an axe, it will take time. Limitations are what roleplaying is all about. For another example:
*Bob runs in with his machine-gun, and sprays the area, killing 20 enemies, and paving the way for the rest to come in while dodging bullets. Grabbing a grenade from his chest, he pulls the pin, and hurls it into an enemy gun emplacement, killing everyone, and silencing the machine gun. Dodging even more bullets, Bob runs into an enemy bunker, and tosses a satchel charge in. Turning, he runs back into his foxhole, and keeps up a deadly fire on the enemy, killing nearly every bad guy he sees*
Now, I realize that most, (and that's closer to all) of you wouldn't do that, but I have seen some RPers dodge arrow after arrow. See for example: (name and other parts changed for obvious reasons):
"* ******** sees ********* fire at ****** and takes a shield from a fallen beast. Then he swiftly jumps to were the arrows are zipping twards ********* and blocks them with his shield. One of the arrows found its target in *********'s shoulder, but he fights on like its not even there*
Now, that is an example of very poor action RPing. Blocking all those arrows is not realistic, and fighting on like nothing happened when the arrow hit his shoulder is just as bad.
